Ordination of Michael McKenna
On Friday 26 June 2009, the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst welcomed the Installation of the Eighth Bishop of Bathurst, Michael McKenna DD at an historic Ordination Mass held at St. Stanislaus' College, Bathurst. Over 1500 people from around the Diocese joined the Bishop's family and friends from Victoria as Fr Michael McKenna was ordained a Bishop by Cardinal George Pell in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Guisppe Lazarotto.
Prior to the Ordination Mass, MacKillop College Captain, Hannah Manning welcomed Bishop Michael to the Bathurst Diocese on behalf of the youth of the Diocese. Bishop Michael McKenna in taking up his ministry adopts his own Coat of Arms and motto. Bishop McKenna's Latin motto ‘Legato Con Amore' means ‘Bound together in Love' and is taken from Dante's ‘Divine Comedy'. The Coat of Arms includes a star at the foot of the Cross representing
Our Lady and in prayerful acknowledgment of the support of Our Lady's intercession, Bishop Michael has given Mary the role of ‘Our Lady of the Central West'.
The College looks forward to welcoming Bishop McKenna to the College early in Term 3.
