Commerce

Commerce is a practical subject that will give you the chance to gain helpful information and skills that you will use throughout your life. It helps you to become a better citizen and a wiser consumer.

In Year 9 Commerce you will learn how people earn money and how they spend it. More importantly you will learn how to get the best value for your money, how to budget carefully and how to save money. Commerce will help you to understand banking, credit buying, consumer protection, advertising, and how businesses are organised.

In Year 10 Commerce you will study the law, different types of government, various groups of people in the workplace and Australia's role and activities in the international sector. You will also learn how to go about finding employment, buying a car, renting a flat or buying a home.

Commerce can be done by anyone because it's about the kinds of things everybody does every day. It gives you the opportunity to get involved in many activities too - like mock trials and elections, filling out census forms and applications for a passport, a job, etc., listening to guest speakers, and visiting the Parliament.
