French
Learning a new language can be fun, as well as providing you with a new and useful skill which you can use in travelling and in many different social and job situations here in Australia.
If you study French in Years 9 and 10, you will learn:
- to understand spoken French
- to speak conversationally in French
- to read simple French such as that found in comics, short stories, magazine articles, menus and advertisements.
- to write, for example, letters to a French penfriend, a travel journal, diary etc.
You will learn about travelling in France, the customs of the French people, everyday things like food, school life and entertainment.
We will use audio and video tapes, songs, games and role-play - so you can use the second language in "real" situations.
If you plan to study French at 2 Unit level for the HSC you must do French in Years 9 and 10.
