Celebrating the Class of 2007 HSC Results

HSC Results compared over the previous 6 years of students receiving Band 6 results

There is tremendous pride and satisfaction derived from the 2007 Academic Standards at MacKillop College. The standards across all forms indicate that the vast majority of the students are achieving at and above C grades and Levels 3/4 standards. In essence, this means that 80% of our students can aim to gain university entry after completing their HSC. It affirms the strongly held view that in an all-girls’ College, students strongly support one another’s learning and commit to building a sound educational environment. Whilst there are a small number of students achieving in the lower levels, it should be appreciated that for many students of lower academic ability they are gaining fine results, as they work positively towards reaching the outcomes in their courses of study.

The 2007 HSC results are the best the College has achieved since the new HSC was introduced in 2001, with 56 Band 6 Honour listings from 21 individual students. One of the most impressive aspects of these results was the overall achievement across all courses as illustrated by the table of results and graph. We extend our congratulations to the HSC Class of 2007 and to their teachers for these outstanding results. With 41% of all allocated listings in the Bands 5 & 6 range and a total of 78% of all band listings accounting for Band 4 or above in all courses it is a memorable achievement considering that the remaining percentage of 3.8% were Band 2 listings.

The College’s Dux for 2007, Roisin McCarthy, achieved the grand UAI ranking of 99.75, and Isobel McGarity, 98.9. Both Roisin and Isobel made the Premier’s All-Rounders List for 10 or more units above 90. Roisin, our MCE Smith Medallist for 2007, along with her fellow Top Ten HSC students, will be invited to attend this year’s MacKillop Dinner in September, as well as having their names entered on the College’s Honour Board. We wish all the Class of 2007 every success for their future endeavours.

The HSC Class of 2007 achieved results above the State mean in 23 individual courses with exceptional course means in the following subjects:

  • Ancient History with 8.77% above the State mean
  • Design and Technology with 12.94% above the State mean
  • Geography with 8.15% above the State mean
  • Modern History with 9.01% above the State mean
  • Music 1 with 4.86% above the State mean
  • Chemistry with 5.70% above the State mean
  • Food Technology with 6.11% above the State mean
  • IPT with 12.80% above the State mean
  • Extension History with 7.45% above the State mean
  • PDHPE with 5.69% above the State mean
