Library

MacKillop library supports the aims and objectives of the College and is therefore essential to the planning and implementing of the teaching and learning programs for the College. It provides a wide range of resources and access to online information to assist with these programs.

Our aim is to provide all members of the College community access to resources that caters for a wide range of interests, curriculum needs and student abilities in an environment that promotes a lifelong interest in reading and knowledge.

Lunchtime Activities

The library is open for schoolwork and borrowing only during the first half of lunch. Assistance from library staff is readily available at this time. In the second half, computers, board and card games are available for recreational use.

Displays

There are continuously changing displays featuring new resources and student work across many subject areas.

Library Catalogue

The library catalogue, Alice for Windows, can be accessed from all computers throughout the college and from home computers. Assistance with using the catalogue is readily available from library staff.

Facilities

Physical Facilities

There are three separate areas that cater for students working within their class or undertaking individual research and areas for senior study. The library also houses a vibrant collection of recreational reading material amidst the easy chairs in the two reading areas.

Technology

The library has 33 workstations with access to the Intranet, the Internet and ClickView Library. Scanner, printer and photocopier are available as are network access points for students using their own laptops. Students can access and work in their own files and printing from all computers is centralised. Senior students have access to computers during Senior Study if not booked by class groups.

CD players, digital cameras, laptops and data projectors are available for class use.
