- Australian Music
- Pop music
Studying music involves you in a variety of activities including:
- Performing (both solo and in an ensemble)
- Composing
- Listening
Students who study elective music do not need to be having private tuition on their instrument. Students who study music are expected to either sing or to play an instrument (or be willing to learn an instrument). Music is a performance subject, and we do quite a deal more performance in years 9 and 10 than was done in junior music. Music students are also expected to participate in performing ensembles and performance activities at the College.
During recent years, the Music department has developed considerable resources in the area of information technology. As a result, elective music students now have the opportunity to write and record their own songs on CD. Students who elect music will have "hands on" experience with some of the most up to date and industry standard software available. With the current available technology, students who even have the most basic understanding of music can produce professional sounding works and either burn to CD or post them to the Internet. As well as recording, technology has allowed the notation process to become a great deal easier.
